The No. 2 seed Liberty Flames will start Pool B play at the Conference USA (CUSA) Baseball Championship at Mickey Dunn Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia, beginning Thursday, May 21.
The tournament is significant for Liberty as they look to advance from Pool B by facing No. 8 seed Sam Houston on Thursday and No. 5 seed Louisiana Tech on Friday. The winner of Pool B will move on to the semifinals scheduled for Saturday, with the championship game set for Sunday.
Liberty finished their regular season with a conference record of 21-9 and an overall mark of 38-18, which is their best performance in three seasons in CUSA. The team enters the championship two wins away from reaching a total of forty victories this season—a milestone achieved only five times previously in program history. Their most recent forty-win season was in 2019 when they posted a record of 43-21.
The Flames also recorded notable success on the road this year, ending with a road record of 19-6—currently ranked sixth best nationally—and winning thirteen out of their last sixteen road games. Head coach Bradley LeCroy is leading the team in his second season and has guided them to a cumulative record of 68-45 during his tenure.
Pitching has been another highlight for Liberty this season; their staff combined for 513 strikeouts so far, which ranks fourth all-time among Flames teams and places them second within Conference USA for strikeouts per nine innings at an average of nine point four.
Looking ahead, if Liberty secures two more wins during the championship pool play or subsequent rounds, it would mark another historic achievement for the program as they aim to continue building on one of their strongest seasons.
