Liberty University will begin the postseason as the No. 1 seed at the Conference USA (CUSA) Men’s Golf Championship, which starts Monday, April 24. The four-day event will be held at Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Arkansas.
The championship features a format of three days of stroke play followed by match play for the top four teams. Semifinal and final rounds will take place Thursday, with the title match broadcast on ESPN+. Liberty has reached match play each year since joining Conference USA in the 2024-25 season and won the conference title in its first appearance.
Liberty’s starting lineup includes Michael Lugiano (70.76 stroke average), Josh Ryan (71.66), Ike Joy (72.10), Silas Haarer (72.34), and Luke Libbey (73.65). Brett Reid is listed as an alternate with a stroke average of 73.64.
Last year, Liberty led after stroke play but lost to UTEP in the semifinals despite strong performances from players like Ike Joy, who finished as runner-up individually with a score of seven-under-par over three rounds. In their previous championship run in 2024, Liberty defeated Sam Houston and UTEP to secure their first CUSA title.
Heading into this year’s tournament, Liberty holds a national ranking of No. 80 according to Scoreboard by Clippd as of April 23, ahead of UTEP and other conference rivals. The team finished regular season play with a record of 74-61-0 and aims to return to NCAA Regional competition after missing out last year for the first time since 2015.
Historically, Liberty has claimed eight conference championships across multiple leagues and made fourteen NCAA Regional appearances along with four trips to the NCAA National Championship.
