The Liberty Flames baseball team defeated the Charlotte 49ers 12-2 on Apr. 28, ending the game in the seventh inning due to the run-rule at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium.

The game was stopped early as Liberty reached a ten-run lead, marking their second consecutive run-rule victory after defeating Delaware. Jaxon Sorenson led Liberty with three hits, including his fourth home run of the season and an RBI single that ended the contest. He finished with four runs batted in and scored twice.

Right fielder Riley DeCandido contributed two hits and walked twice, reaching base every time he came to bat while also scoring two runs and driving in one. Ethan Swofford added two hits and an RBI for Liberty, which improved its record to 32 wins and 13 losses this season. Charlotte fell to a record of 20-24.

Liberty outhit Charlotte by twelve hits to eight, while Charlotte committed all three errors recorded during the game. Jordan Jaffe singled, walked twice, and scored three times for Liberty; he has now hit safely in nine straight games and reached base safely in a team-high thirty-three consecutive contests.

Jackson Evans started on the mound for Liberty and earned his fourth win of the year after allowing two runs over three innings with five strikeouts. Relievers Brandon Dahlman, Seth Way, and Aydan Decker-Petty combined for four scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Looking ahead, Liberty will travel to Las Cruces for a three-game Conference USA series against New Mexico State starting Friday.
