Liberty University announced on May 5 that its baseball team will begin the final homestand of the 2026 season by hosting Virginia Tech at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium on Wednesday night.
The upcoming game is significant as it marks the start of a five-game home stretch, which are the last regular season home games for Liberty this year. The Flames have performed well at home in 2026, posting an 18-8 record at Worthington Field.
Following their matchup with Virginia Tech, Liberty will host Louisiana Tech for a three-game Conference USA series starting Friday and then play Wake Forest on May 12. The team is coming off a successful weekend series against New Mexico State, which moved them into second place in the Conference USA standings with two weekends left in the regular season.
This game will be the second meeting between Liberty and Virginia Tech this season. The Flames won their previous encounter in Blacksburg with an 11-4 victory on April 7 and have now won four consecutive games against Virginia Tech. Head Coach Bradley LeCroy is leading Liberty in his second season and has guided the team to a combined record of 65-40 during his tenure. LeCroy achieved his 100th career coaching victory earlier this year when Liberty defeated Hofstra.
Virginia Tech enters Wednesday’s contest with a record of 25-21 overall and a conference mark of 13-14 under Head Coach John Szefc, who is in his ninth year with the Hokies.
