Liberty moved into the match play event of the Conference USA Men’s Golf Championship after posting its best team score in Round 3, according to an April 29 announcement. The team recorded an 11-under par 277 at Texarkana Country Club, allowing them to climb from fifth place to a share of third at the end of stroke play.

This performance secured Liberty a spot in Thursday’s match play, sharing third place with Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) after both teams finished with a total score of 17-under par 847. UTEP earned the top seed with a score of 31-under par and will face MTSU, while New Mexico State finished second and will compete against Liberty for a chance to advance.

The winners from Thursday morning’s matches will meet in the afternoon for the championship title, which will be broadcast on ESPN+. Liberty is seeking its second Conference USA title in three years after winning during their inaugural season in the league in 2024.

Freshman Silas Haarer led Liberty’s golfers on Wednesday with a round of four-under-par 68, finishing tied for eleventh overall. Michael Lugiano followed closely behind with a three-under-par round that included an eagle on hole twelve. Senior Josh Ryan was consistent throughout and ended tenth overall. Seniors Ike Joy and Brett Reid also contributed under-par rounds.

The pairings for match play begin Thursday morning at Texarkana Country Club. Live stats are available online, and fans can follow updates through Liberty Golf’s social media accounts.
