Contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) plan to restore one of two eastbound left-turn lanes from Victory Boulevard (Route 171) to Hampton Highway (Route 134) in York County as early as Tuesday, October 21. This lane has been closed since July 2025 due to ongoing work for the Victory Boulevard Widening Project.

Once the lane reopens, drivers heading east on Victory Boulevard will again be able to turn left onto Hampton Highway without using the previous detour through Big Bethel Road (Route 600) and Yorktown Road (Route 706). The reopening is scheduled to take place starting at 8 a.m. The inside left-turn lane will stay closed while crews continue work on the traffic signal.

All schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Drivers are advised to pay attention to posted traffic signs as construction continues in this area.

VDOT encourages motorists to use its free 511 Virginia traffic tools or the Waze GPS app for real-time updates about road and travel conditions, including information about construction, incidents, congestion, and access to traffic cameras.

“Motorists along Victory Boulevard are reminded to follow posted traffic signs as construction in this corridor continues.”
