Paving operations are scheduled to take place on Interstate 81 southbound near exit 39 in the Seven Mile Ford area of Smyth County. The work will be conducted continuously, both day and night, starting Sunday evening, June 22, and is expected to conclude by Wednesday morning, June 25.

Motorists traveling through this section should remain vigilant as lane closures will occur around the clock. Traffic will shift between the right and left lanes throughout the project duration. Drivers are advised to pay close attention to signs and message boards for updates on traffic patterns.

Delays due to slowed or stopped traffic are anticipated. Local drivers are encouraged to consider alternate routes to avoid potential congestion.

The completion of paving operations is contingent upon favorable weather conditions and is planned for June 25.
