VCU defeated Saint Joseph’s 16-15 in overtime on April 18, with the winning goal coming from Koeneke just under a minute into the extra period. The game took place in Lower Merion, Pennsylvania.

The win marked VCU’s first road victory at Saint Joseph’s after four previous attempts. Both teams were closely matched throughout the contest, each recording 24 shots on goal. However, Saint Joseph’s had a slight edge in total shot attempts and controlled more draws.

Koeneke led VCU with five goals and two assists on seven shots. Additional contributions included three goals and two assists from another Rams player, as well as two goals and one assist from a teammate. For Saint Joseph’s, Kate Fuhrman scored a team-high four goals.

The game saw momentum shifts throughout regulation. VCU trailed by three after the first quarter but responded with five unanswered goals early in the second to take the lead before halftime. Despite holding a three-goal advantage late in regulation, VCU allowed Saint Joseph’s to tie it up with less than a minute left, forcing overtime.

In overtime, Koeneke secured possession after an initial shot was saved and scored from close range for the decisive goal.

Looking ahead, VCU will host George Mason on Senior Day at Cary Street Field on Saturday, April 25 at 1 p.m., with coverage available on ESPN+.
