James Madison University Head Coach Steve Secord announced on June 2 the addition of Riccardo Ciulli to the men’s tennis program, finalizing the team’s recruiting class for the 2026-27 academic year.
Ciulli, who is from Cagliari, Italy, joins the Dukes after spending one season at North Florida. He played primarily at #2 doubles and recorded a 2-3 singles record along with a 5-4 doubles record during his time there. Ciulli also contributed to North Florida’s run to the America Sun Championship title match.
“We’re excited to add Riccardo as a transfer from North Florida,” Secord said. “He’ll boost us in doubles, and I look for him to add depth to our singles lineup. Our class is set – Riccardo, Kaua, Ethan and Theo arrive in August. Go Dukes!”
Before joining college tennis in the United States, Ciulli prepped at Liceo Scientifico Antonio Pacinotti in Italy. He achieved an Italian national ranking of 2.5 and competed in both Serie B team championships as well as ITF and UTR tournaments.
With this signing, JMU’s incoming class now includes transfers Ethan Boswell from Charlotte, North Carolina; Kaua Cressoni from Sao Paulo, Brazil; and freshman Theodor Lorentzon from Stockholm, Sweden.
