James Madison women’s golf finishes 10th at Sun Belt Championship

The James Madison University women’s golf team finished its 2025-26 season with a 10th-place result at the Sun Belt Conference Championship on April 22.

The event took place at the Lakewood Club, a par-72 course measuring 6,164 yards. The Dukes posted a total score of 904 (+40) over three rounds, placing them 10th out of the thirteen teams competing. The team achieved its best round in the final stretch, recording a score of 295 (+7) after playing two-under-par over their last twelve holes.

Freshman Klára Sionková led JMU individually by tying for 25th place with a combined score of 223 (+7). This marks her fifth top-25 finish this season, with individual rounds of 75, 76, and an even-par final round of 72. Sophomore Bella Flores also shot an even-par round on Wednesday and tied for 30th overall with a total score of 225 (+9), improving her position by seven spots in the final standings.

Grace Petzold completed her first year at JMU by tying for 44th place with scores of 76, 78, and another round of 76 to finish at +14. Freshman Emerson Elm tied for the fifty-second spot in her championship debut after shooting rounds of seventy-nine twice and seventy-eight once to end at +20.

Senior Maria Atwood played her last collegiate tournament round on Monday before being replaced by Avery Robinson as substitute. Robinson contributed scores of even-par seventy-two on Tuesday and seventy-five on Wednesday.
