James Madison University announced on Apr. 28 that its women’s basketball team has added three transfer players—Ja’Quoia Jones-Brown from Long Beach State, Trinity Moore from Stephen F. Austin, and Trynce Taylor from Kennesaw State—for the upcoming season.

The addition of these players is intended to strengthen the team’s roster and bring new experience and skills to the program as it prepares for future competitions.

Head Coach Sean O’Regan said, “I’m really proud of our staff for the work they did, both being thorough and quick with our assessment and recruitment of these three players. We feel outstanding with this class and their potential impact.” O’Regan described Jones-Brown as “a great person who loves the game” and called her “a versatile scoring guard who can really light it up. We are excited to have her join our family.” During her sophomore year at Long Beach State, Jones-Brown led her team in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and minutes played per game.

Moore joins James Madison after playing at Oral Roberts and Stephen F. Austin. She started all 35 games in her last season as a Ladyjack and averaged career bests in both scoring (11.7 points per game) and rebounding (6.7 rebounds per game). O’Regan said about Moore: “Trinity is going to bring valuable experience and leadership to our team. She’s a proven scorer and winner, and most importantly, a wonderful person. We were thrilled to be able to get Trinity to join the family.” Moore was named tournament MVP after helping lead Stephen F. Austin to a Southland Conference Tournament title.

Taylor comes from Kennesaw State where she averaged 9.7 points per game along with a team-best 6.5 rebounds last season while starting in most games played by the Owls. O’Regan said: “We are elated to announce Trynce is joining our family. She fills a big need for us in our front court. She will be great for us on the glass and help fill in for some of our lost scoring. Her potential is off the charts.” Taylor’s defensive rebounding numbers rank among KSU’s historical leaders.

The new transfers will join incoming freshmen Reagan Edsell, Demi Gilliam, Maddie Leach, and Kinley Lewis on next season’s roster.
