James Madison University softball won both games of a doubleheader against Georgia State on April 24, securing its final home series of the season at Veterans Memorial Park.

The outcome is significant for the Dukes, who improved their record to 24-22 overall and 10-10 in Sun Belt Conference play. The victories also mark another successful conclusion to their home schedule, as three of the last four seasons have seen the team win its final home series.

In game one, James Madison edged out Georgia State with a score of 4-3. Pitcher Kirsten Fleet delivered four strong innings, allowing only two hits and striking out three batters. Cali Legzdin hit a solo home run in the second inning, while Emily LeGrand contributed a two-run double in the third. Fleet secured her eighth win by retiring the last seven batters she faced.

Game two saw five Dukes record multiple hits. Kendra Lewis led with a perfect 2-for-2 performance that included a run scored, a double, and four runs batted in. The Dukes built an early lead before Payton List hit her tenth homer of the year—a three-run shot—to extend their advantage. After Georgia State tied it up at six runs apiece in the fifth inning, Bella Henzler responded with a go-ahead two-run homer for James Madison. Lewis added another insurance run later that inning with an RBI double down the first base line.

LeGrand and List are now tied with Lewis for most home runs on the team this season at ten each.

The Dukes will finish their home schedule on Sunday, April 26 at noon and plan to honor their four seniors during Senior Day.
