The James Madison University men’s basketball program announced on May 4 the addition of guard Cavan Reilly to its roster for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Reilly is the fifth transfer portal addition for the Dukes ahead of next year.

Reilly, a native of Lovettsville, Virginia, spent four seasons with Delaware, appearing in 95 games and starting in 63. He has made a career total of 166 three-point shots and holds a career average of 37.8 percent from beyond the arc. As a freshman during the 2022-23 season at Delaware, he set a school record by shooting 45.3 percent from three-point range.

Head Coach Preston Spradlin said, “Cavan is an experienced guard who has proven to be an efficient scorer at this level. He is a high-level shooter that will thrive in our offense, and his versatility to score at all three levels allows him to impact the game in a variety of ways. We are excited to welcome another Virginia native back to the Commonwealth!”

During his time at Delaware, Reilly had several notable performances including scoring double figures in points on numerous occasions and recording multiple games with over twenty points. In the most recent full season he played (2024-25), he averaged 12.4 points per game while shooting nearly forty-eight percent from the field and over thirty-five percent from three-point range.

Reilly’s background includes graduating from Bishop O’Connell High School in 2022 and being nominated for the McDonald’s All-American Game that same year. He also played golf during high school and participated with DC Premier on their AAU team.

The addition of Reilly brings further experience and depth to James Madison’s backcourt as they prepare for next season.
