James Madison University lacrosse was ranked No. 25 in the latest Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I Coaches’ Poll, according to an announcement on April 20.

This marks the first time James Madison has appeared in the poll since being ranked No. 22 on February 16 during the third poll of the season.

The new ranking follows a successful week for the Dukes, highlighted by their third win over a ranked opponent this season with a 14-9 victory at No. 24 Richmond. The team also defeated Vanderbilt by the same score, securing a win on Senior Day and clinching the No. 2 seed in the upcoming American Women’s Lacrosse Championship.

James Madison is currently the only team from its conference to receive a top-25 ranking this season. The Dukes lead their conference in assists per game, ground balls per game, and caused turnovers per game, placing them among the top-25 teams nationally in each of these categories.

The Dukes are scheduled to conclude their regular season with an American Conference match against Old Dominion on Saturday, April 25 at 1 p.m., which will be streamed on ESPN+.
