James Madison University lacrosse was ranked number 22 in the latest Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I Coaches’ Poll, according to a May 4 announcement from the organization.

The new ranking comes after James Madison’s recent success, including winning its second consecutive American Conference Championship. The team defeated the University of South Florida in the title game with a score of 17-7. James Madison has won seven games in a row and nine out of their last ten matches.

Compared to last week, James Madison moved up three spots from number 25 to number 22 in what is the final poll for April. The team’s current record stands at thirteen wins and six losses.

Looking ahead, James Madison will play against Notre Dame, which holds the number sixteen ranking, in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship. The match is scheduled for Friday, May 8 at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in Evanston, Illinois. The winner will advance to face Northwestern, ranked second nationally, on Sunday, May 10.

The upcoming game between James Madison and Notre Dame will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with play beginning at four o’clock Eastern Time.
