Interstate 95 northbound was temporarily closed at exit 143 (Aquia/Garrisonville) due to a multi-vehicle crash in Stafford County. As a result, northbound traffic was rerouted from I-95 at exit 140 (Courthouse Road) to Route 1.

Traffic signals along Route 1 were retimed to handle the increased traffic volume. Those traveling along the interstate could use Route 1 northbound and re-enter I-95 at exit 148 (Quantico).

At 6:08 p.m., two lanes reopened at exit 143 and the detour at exit 140 was lifted. By 6:34 p.m., all lanes at Exit 143 were open for traffic.

For further updates on lane closures related to this incident, drivers were advised to consult 511Virginia.
