All lanes of Interstate 81 in Augusta County have reopened following a tractor-trailer crash that occurred on Monday morning near mile marker 210.7. The incident necessitated the offloading and hazardous materials cleanup of the tanker truck’s cargo and fuel. During the cleanup, traffic was detoured between exits 205 and 213, but these detours have now been lifted.

Motorists traveling on I-81 and Route 11 (Lee-Jackson Highway) may still encounter congestion this evening in southern Augusta County and northern Rockbridge County.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Staunton District serves several counties including Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany, and Bath.
