The Interstate 81 Advisory Committee is set to convene on July 14, 2025, in Augusta County. The meeting will take place at Blue Ridge Community College in the Robert E. Plecker Workforce Center at 3 p.m. Public comments will be entertained during the session.

Meeting details and documents are accessible via Improve81.org, which is dedicated to the I-81 Corridor Improvement Program (CIP).

Simultaneously, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will conduct a public meeting at the same location starting at 5 p.m. This session aims to gather feedback on potential improvements along I-81 as part of Round 2 of the I-81 Corridor Improvement Plan (CIP). The advisory committee’s role involves advising and making recommendations to the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) regarding updates to the I-81 CIP, as mandated by Chapter 846 of the 2019 Acts of Assembly.

Comprising 15 voting members, the committee includes seven Virginia lawmakers, three CTB members from Bristol, Salem, and Staunton districts, and five planning district commission chairs. Additionally, the commissioner of VDOT and the director of the Department of Rail and Public Transportation participate ex officio without voting rights.
