All lanes of Interstate 95 northbound in Stafford County have reopened following a tractor-trailer crash near mile marker 142. The incident had previously closed the road, causing significant traffic disruptions.

The detour that redirected vehicles at exit 140 (Courthouse Road) has been lifted. Despite the reopening, delays are expected to persist on both I-95 northbound and Route 1 northbound as congestion clears from the earlier closure. Traffic backups currently start approximately six miles before exit 140, while heavy congestion is reported between Centreport Parkway and Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) on Route 1.

Updates on traffic conditions can be found on the Virginia Department of Transportation’s website, 511Virginia.

Prior to the reopening, all northbound travel lanes were closed due to a crash involving a tractor-trailer. Northbound traffic was diverted at exit 140 onto Route 630 and then to Route 1. Adjustments were made to traffic signal timing along Route 1 to manage increased vehicle flow.

Travelers are advised to consider alternate routes due to anticipated heavy congestion approaching exit 140 and along Route 1 in the Stafford Courthouse area. Southbound lanes of I-95 remain unaffected near exit 140.
