The Virginia Department of Transportation announced on May 1 that milling and paving work will begin next week on Interstate 95 near the exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville Road) interchange in Stafford County.
This project is expected to cause overnight delays for travelers as crews conduct intense paving operations. The work will require double lane closures and temporary closures of both on- and off-ramps at the interchange.
Starting Sunday, May 3, crews are scheduled to mill and pave the I-95 travel lanes near exit 143. The operation aims to restore a smooth surface for drivers, followed by new line striping and pavement markings. Work will first focus on southbound travel lanes between mile markers 145-141, then move to the southbound ramps before advancing northbound between mile markers 142-144. Lane closures will begin each night with a single lane closure at 9 p.m., escalating to double lane closures at 10 p.m., with all lanes reopening by 5 a.m. the following morning. Weather permitting, this paving effort is expected to be completed by July.
