Due to scheduled paving work, drivers traveling on northbound Interstate 81 near Exit 7 in Bristol will encounter daytime lane closures from December 2 through December 4, depending on weather conditions. The Virginia Department of Transportation announced that only one lane will be open to traffic during this period.

The department advised motorists to expect potential delays and possible periods of slowed or stopped traffic as a result of the lane restrictions. “Because northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane, motorists should be alert to the possibility of slowed or stopped traffic and delays during the daytime paving,” according to the statement.

The temporary closures are part of ongoing maintenance efforts in the area.
