Weather permitting, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced planned closures for the northbound I-495 ramp to Gallows Road (Route 650 – Exit 51) in Annandale. The closures are scheduled for Monday, June 30, and Tuesday, July 1, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Additionally, the Gallows Road ramp to northbound I-495 will be closed on Tuesday, July 1, and Wednesday, July 2, during the same hours. These closures are necessary for milling and paving work.
For drivers affected by these closures, VDOT has provided detour routes. On Monday and Tuesday nights, travelers on northbound I-495 should take westbound Arlington Boulevard (Route 50 – Exit 50A) back to Gallows Road. On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, those traveling on northbound Gallows Road should use eastbound Arlington Boulevard (Route 50) to return to northbound I-495.
VDOT advises drivers to follow posted detour signs during these times. Traffic updates and information about work zones or incidents can be accessed online at 511.vdot.virginia.gov, through the free mobile app “511Virginia,” or by calling 511 within Virginia.
