Weather permitting, the Virginia Department of Transportation has announced lane closures on southbound I-395 near the Pentagon this weekend. The closures are part of a bridge project and will affect lanes over two ramps, located about a quarter mile beyond southbound Exit 8A to Pentagon South Parking, Route 27/Washington Boulevard, and South Arlington Ridge Road.
The schedule for lane closures is as follows:
– Friday, July 11: Left lane closed from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
– Friday, July 11 to Saturday, July 12: Two left lanes closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
– Saturday, July 12: Left lane closed from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
– Saturday, July 12: Left lane closed from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
– Saturday, July 12 to Sunday, July 13: Two left lanes closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
– Sunday, July 13: Left lane closed from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
At least one southbound general-purpose lane will remain open at all times during the work period. Drivers should anticipate delays and consider using alternate routes.
These closures are part of efforts to close joints and make minor repairs on several bridges along I-395.
Travelers including drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians are urged to exercise caution in active work zones by staying alert for new traffic patterns and minimizing distractions.
