The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced lane closures on the northbound I-395 near the Pentagon scheduled for June 28 and 29. These closures are part of a bridge project involving joint closure and minor repairs to several bridges along I-395.
According to VDOT, “Weather permitting, the northbound I-395 general purpose lanes will have lane closures Saturday night into Sunday morning, June 28 and June 29 near the Pentagon as part of a bridge project.” The affected area is at the bridge over South Fern Street, approximately half a mile beyond northbound Exit 8C to Route 1 South, Pentagon City, Crystal City, and Reagan National Airport.
The schedule for lane closures is as follows: one lane will be closed from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 28; two lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. on Saturday until 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 29; and one lane will again be closed from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday.
VDOT advises drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians to exercise caution in active work zones. They emphasize being alert to new traffic patterns and minimizing distractions during travel.
