The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced upcoming lane closures on I-395 at Edsall Road in Springfield, scheduled for the weekend of February 27 through March 1, weather permitting. The closures will affect both northbound and southbound general purpose lanes as well as the 395 Express Lanes to allow for bridge work.

According to VDOT, the southbound I-395 general purpose left lane will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, February 27, until 3 p.m. Saturday, February 28. The southbound 395 Express Lanes right lane will also close from 10 p.m. Friday until 2 p.m. Saturday; after that time, the entire Express Lanes section will be closed from 2 p.m. to about 3 p.m. for a regularly scheduled reversal from southbound to northbound operations. Road work is expected to be cleared by the time this reversal is complete.

On the northbound side, the I-395 general purpose left lane and the right lane of the northbound Express Lanes will both be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday, February 28, until 11 a.m. Sunday, March 1.

Drivers are advised: “Drivers are reminded to use caution when traveling in active work zones. Be alert to new traffic patterns and limit distractions.”
