The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced planned lane closures on both northbound and southbound I-395 at Edsall Road (Route 648/Exit 2) in Springfield from Friday night, February 20, through Sunday morning, February 22. The closures are scheduled to allow for bridge work and are dependent on weather conditions.

According to VDOT, the specific closure times are as follows: the southbound I-395 general purpose left lane will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, February 20, until 3 p.m. Saturday, February 21; the southbound 395 Express Lanes right lane will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday until 2 p.m. Saturday. Afterward, the entire southbound Express Lanes will close from 2 p.m. to about 3 p.m. Saturday for a regular traffic reversal to northbound operations. Road work is expected to finish by the time this reversal is complete.

For northbound lanes, the general purpose left lane and the right lane of the Express Lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday, February 21, until 11 a.m. Sunday, February 22.

Drivers are advised by VDOT to exercise caution when traveling through active work zones and remain alert for new traffic patterns while limiting distractions.
