Starting overnight on July 25, contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the I-264 west off-ramp to Ballentine Boulevard (exit 12) in Norfolk. This closure is part of the I-264 West/Ballentine Boulevard Ramp Improvements Project.

The project involves demolishing both lanes of existing pavement on the off-ramp and repaving to widen it to three lanes. The new configuration will include two right-turn lanes and one left-turn lane onto Ballentine Boulevard.

A detour will direct motorists from I-264 west to East Brambleton Avenue (exit 11B), Park Avenue, East Virginia Beach Boulevard, and back to Ballentine Boulevard.

During this time, the outside right travel lane of northbound Ballentine Boulevard between Westminster Avenue and The Tide light rail tracks will also be closed, reducing traffic to one lane.

The ramp closure is expected to last through mid-August. All work is dependent on weather and scheduling, so dates may change.
