Virginia Tech softball secured the No. 3 seed in the ACC Softball Championship, which will take place at Palmer Park in Charlottesville from May 6 to May 9, according to a May 3 announcement.

The seeding gives the Hokies a first-round bye and positions them to play the winner of No. 6 Virginia and No. 11 Pitt on Thursday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Earlier this season, Virginia Tech won two out of three games against then-No. 21 Virginia but has not faced Pitt yet this year. The Hokies have compiled a record of 44-9 overall and finished conference play at 18-6 after sweeping Syracuse in their most recent series, outscoring the Orange by a combined score of 37-4 over three games.

Virginia Tech leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in several offensive categories including batting average (.362), runs (436), hits (534), home runs (101), RBIs (416), slugging percentage (.656), walks (229), and on-base percentage (.448). The team also tops the conference with a team ERA of 2.91 and has recorded 362 strikeouts.

All games except for the championship contest will be televised on ACC Network; the final game is scheduled for Saturday, May 9 at 2:30 p.m., airing on ESPN. Tickets are available as all-session passes for $45 or daily tickets ranging from $12 to $20, with free admission for children ages two and under.
