Virginia Tech senior catcher Henry Cooke was named the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Week, according to an April 14 announcement by the College Baseball Foundation.

The recognition comes after Cooke delivered his strongest offensive performance of the season. The award highlights his significant contributions during a series against Boston College, where he went 9-for-16 at bat with a double, triple, and home run. He also recorded three multi-hit games in Atlantic Coast Conference play.

Cooke reached base 11 times over the week, achieving a .611 on-base percentage. His efforts included four runs scored, three runs batted in, one stolen base, two runners caught stealing, and errorless defense across 36 chances. After starting the season with only two hits in his first 35 at-bats, Cooke has since become one of Virginia Tech’s most reliable players. Since March 6—the start of ACC play—he leads his team with a .348 batting average and has collected ten extra-base hits.

In conference games this season, Cooke leads Virginia Tech in batting average (.382), slugging percentage (.673), and OPS (1.151). He also holds a caught stealing rate of 24 percent and has thrown out eleven would-be base stealers overall while raising his season batting average to .248.

Cooke and the Hokies are scheduled to face Radford at English Field on Tuesday evening for their next game.
