The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced a series of scheduled lane and ramp closures across the Hampton Roads District for the week of June 8-14, 2025. These closures are part of ongoing maintenance and construction projects aimed at improving infrastructure in the region.

At the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel on I-64, single-lane closures will occur eastbound from June 11 to June 12 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. The Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel on I-664 will see southbound single-lane closures on June 9 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., with alternating mobile northbound closures on June 10 during daytime hours.

For those traveling through Chesapeake, full ramp closures are planned from I-64 east to I-464 north (exit 291A) between June 8 and June 12 during nighttime hours. Additional full ramp closures will affect routes connecting Route 168 north to I-64 west.

In James City County, single-lane closures are scheduled on I-64 east from Old Stage Road to Route 199/Lightfoot between June 8 and June 14. Similar westbound lane restrictions will be in place over the same period.

Hampton Roads Express Lanes (HREL) projects continue with various lane reductions and traffic shifts affecting both directions of I-64. Notably, alternating single-lane closures will occur from Mallory Street to LaSalle Avenue nightly from June 8 through June 14.

The Norfolk area will experience multiple lane changes as part of the HREL Norfolk project, including consecutive single-lane closures along sections of I-64 and full closure periods for reversible express lanes.

Additional impacts include double-lane closures near Newport News/Hampton areas as part of ongoing improvements between exits such as J. Clyde Morris Boulevard and Mercury Boulevard.

Motorists should remain aware that these schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen factors. For real-time updates, travelers can visit VDOT’s website or use their smartphone app for navigation assistance.
