Hampton Economic Development opens applications for SPARK Shops retail incubator

Hampton Economic Development announced on April 27 that it is accepting applications from home-based business owners for participation in SPARK Shops, a new retail incubator set to open at Peninsula Town Center.

The initiative aims to support local entrepreneurs by providing affordable retail space, training, mentorship, and a collaborative environment. This opportunity is intended for Hampton-based businesses able to commit to a year-long training program focused on developing skills in the retail sector.

Eligible applicants can operate businesses offering products such as gift items, home décor, accessories, shoes, candles and fragrances, arts and crafts, or packaged non-perishable foods. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 29. The program’s curriculum will cover topics including the retail industry and product cycle, customer service and sales techniques, business operations and leadership strategies, branding and marketing approaches, finance and access to capital resources, as well as resource and supplier management.
