George Mason women’s lacrosse to face VCU in season finale on April 25

George Mason women’s lacrosse will travel to Richmond, Virginia, for its final match of the season against Virginia Commonwealth University on April 25. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Cary Street Field.

This matchup marks the eleventh meeting between the Patriots and the Rams, with VCU currently leading the series seven games to three. In their most recent encounter in March 2025, VCU defeated George Mason by a score of 12-7.

Several George Mason players have achieved notable national rankings this season. Kate Anders is ranked among the top 25 nationally in total goals and goals per game, while Riley Ellis stands out for assists both overall and per game. Kaitlyn Bestick has earned recognition for free-position goals per game, and Regan Bestick ranks high in total saves as well as saves per game.

The Patriots have already surpassed last year’s conference win total with three victories this season compared to two last year. One more win would allow them to match their overall win record from last year at seven wins. Head coach Kara Mupo was recently named head coach of the Israel National Sixes Team ahead of Olympic qualifiers.

The team added ten new players this season, including several freshmen such as Kate Carpenter and Zuri Crumpton. According to information provided about VCU’s program, the Rams finished their previous season with an overall record of eight wins and eleven losses and were picked fourth in this year’s Atlantic 10 preseason poll. Rachel Koeneke returns as a top point scorer for VCU.
