George Mason University lost to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) 13–2 on April 25, ending its women’s lacrosse season without a berth in the Atlantic 10 tournament.

The result marks the conclusion of the Patriots’ campaign, as they were unable to secure a spot in postseason play. The game took place at VCU’s home field, where the Rams established an early lead and maintained control throughout.

The Patriots opened with strong possession after Kate Anders won the first draw control. Despite multiple offensive attempts by Giselle Torain and Anders, George Mason was held scoreless in the first quarter due to key saves from VCU goalkeeper Lu Doyen. By quarter’s end, VCU led 3–0.

Midway through the second quarter, Matye Riley scored for George Mason with an assist from Emily Mowbray. However, VCU responded with four unanswered goals before halftime. Regan Bestick made several saves for George Mason but could not prevent an 8–1 deficit at intermission.

In the third quarter, VCU extended its lead with three more goals. Anders scored again for George Mason on an assist from Kaitlyn Bestick, but it was not enough to shift momentum as VCU closed out the frame ahead by ten goals. The final period saw continued defensive efforts by Regan Bestick; however, VCU added another goal while keeping George Mason off the scoreboard.

Key performances included Kaitlyn Bestick recording one assist along with two ground balls and three draw controls; Matye Riley and Kate Anders each scoring once; and Regan Bestick making eleven saves.
