George Mason women’s basketball head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis announced on April 27 the addition of Mary-Kate Tshibuabua, a transfer from Rhode Island, to the Patriots’ roster for the 2026-27 season.

Tshibuabua is expected to bring depth and versatility to George Mason’s frontcourt after spending two seasons with the Rams. Her combination of size, skill, and toughness was highlighted as an asset for the team moving forward.

“Welcome Mary-Kate to the family!” said Vanessa Blair-Lewis. “She brings size, inside presence, and rim protection. MK competes and has the type of mindset you want in your program. She is an amazing person, exceptional in the classroom — she’s an outstanding student who takes pride in academics. MK will be amazing for our program and we can’t wait to have her here in Fairfax!”

During her time at Rhode Island, Tshibuabua played six games in the 2025-26 season after returning from injury. She recorded an 11-point, five-rebound performance in just 12 minutes during a win over Saint Louis and contributed to victories against VCU and George Mason while averaging 3.2 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.

In her first year at Rhode Island during the 2024-25 campaign, she made her debut against Stonehill with two points, four rebounds, and two steals before a knee injury limited her appearances that season.

Before joining Rhode Island, Tshibuabua developed her skills at École Acadomia in France and trained at Tony Parker Adéquat Academy.

Blair-Lewis said that with this addition George Mason continues building a roster defined by resilience and versatility.
