George Mason University’s softball team will travel to play a three-game series against Rhode Island from May 2 through May 3, according to a May 1 announcement. The series marks the end of the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season for both teams.

The outcome of this series is important as it determines the final standings and postseason qualification in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Only the top six teams in the conference will advance to the championship tournament, with George Mason currently holding a conference record of 10–11.

The schedule includes a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon and another game on Sunday at noon. All games are available for live streaming on ESPN+ and live stats are provided online.

Rhode Island enters this matchup after an 11–0 victory over Stonehill but has already been eliminated from postseason contention, sitting seventh in the standings with a record of 6–15. George Mason leads their all-time series against Rhode Island, having won seventeen out of twenty-six previous meetings. Last year, George Mason won two out of three games against Rhode Island.

Key players for Rhode Island include Sydney Orndorff, who leads her team with a .354 batting average and twelve stolen bases, and Kylie Bulinski, who tops several offensive categories including runs scored and home runs. Pitcher Ashley Hibbard has posted an earned run average (ERA) of 2.79 over more than sixty innings pitched.

In their most recent outing, George Mason took one win from conference leader Loyola Chicago during a three-game set. Logan Pickford hit a grand slam during that victory while Alyssa Hopkins contributed with home runs during other games in the series.
