The George Mason University men’s tennis team earned the No. 4 seed in the 2026 Atlantic 10 Championship, its highest seed in program history, according to an April 20 announcement. The Patriots are set to compete in the quarterfinal round against Richmond on Thursday morning.

This achievement is significant as it reflects a milestone for the team and offers an opportunity to advance further in postseason play. The Atlantic 10 Championship brings together all ten league programs at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, with teams vying for a conference title and an automatic berth into the NCAA Championship.

George Mason will face No. 5 Richmond on Thursday, April 23 at 9 a.m., having previously defeated them earlier this season by a score of 4-2. Throughout the season, several players have stood out individually: freshman Edgar Vilain has been named A-10 Rookie of the Week three times and holds an impressive singles dual match record of eight wins and two losses; junior Deniz Okyay was recognized as A-10 Player of the Week once this year.

In singles competition within conference play, Ekansh Kumar remains undefeated with a perfect record of three wins and no losses. Monil Lotlikar leads overall dual singles performance with nine wins against three losses and holds a two-to-one mark within conference matches.

The doubles teams have also contributed significantly to George Mason’s success this season. Niza Simunyola and Edgar Vilain achieved an overall duals record of eleven wins and two losses—including two victories without defeat in conference play—while Deniz Okyay paired with Shari Saeed for eight doubles victories out of ten matches overall (with two wins in three conference contests).

Should George Mason win its quarterfinal matchup on Thursday, it would move forward to compete in Friday’s semifinal round scheduled for April 24 at 10 a.m., also taking place in Orlando.
