The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced a series of scheduled lane closures and ongoing construction projects across the Fredericksburg District for the week of February 15-21, 2026.

On Interstate 95, both northbound and southbound lanes between Exit 104 (Carmel Church) and Exit 148 (Quantico) will have mobile double lane closures from midnight to 4 a.m. on Wednesday for pothole patching.

In Caroline County, single lane closures are planned on Route 1 between Route 639 and Route 207 from Monday to Friday due to utility work. Other roads in the county such as Route 601, Route 609, Route 647, Route 652, and Route 656 will experience alternating lane closures or one-way traffic for sign work and guardrail installation during daytime hours.

The City of Fredericksburg will see right turn lane closures on northbound Route 1 onto Fall Hill Avenue each weekday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., as part of an intersection improvement project. Additional alternating lane closures are scheduled on Fall Hill Avenue and Princess Anne Street throughout the week.

King William County’s westbound Route 360 will have single lane closures during both day and nighttime hours for bridge maintenance. In Spotsylvania County, various roads including Route 1, Route 3, Route 620, Route 636, Route 639, and Stansbury Drive will undergo intermittent lane or shoulder closures due to fiber installation, road widening projects, guardrail installation, or realignment efforts.

Stafford County drivers should expect overnight single lane closures along multiple segments of Route 1 for guardrail installation Sunday through Thursday. Daytime work is also planned on Routes 17 Business and mainline for guardrail upgrades and median improvements.

Additional construction projects continue districtwide. In Caroline County, northbound traffic on the Route 207 bridge over the Mattaponi River remains diverted until April as rehabilitation work continues. Intersection improvement projects in Fredericksburg at Fall Hill Avenue and Princess Anne Street/Hanson Avenue are scheduled for completion by June.

In Essex County, Cheaneys Bridge Road remains closed over Dragon Run Creek until May due to bridge replacement work. Lancaster County’s Kamps Mill Road is closed following culvert deterioration discovered during inspection; a detour via Route 3 is advised while emergency repairs are scheduled.

Mathews County is progressing with a $3.5 million rehabilitation of the North End Branch Bridge on Route 14 with one-way alternating traffic directed by temporary signals until June completion. Gardy’s Mill Road at Gardy’s Millpond in Northumberland and Westmoreland counties remains closed following dam damage last year; travelers are advised to use Hampton Hall Road as a detour.

Richmond County’s Havelock Road is closed for culvert replacement until spring with signs marking detours. In Spotsylvania County near I-95 Exit 126, widening projects aim to expand capacity and improve ramp access through September next year. Harrison Road reconstruction will add lanes and pedestrian infrastructure with completion set for late summer.

Stafford County has ongoing intersection realignment at Telegraph Road/Woodstock Lane along with expansion at Courthouse Road intersections; both projects are locally administered with expected completion in fall or summer of the next two years respectively.
