The Fredericksburg District has released its weekly traffic alert for June 22-28, 2025. This report details roadwork and maintenance schedules across various counties affecting both interstate and secondary roads.
On Interstate 95 Northbound, there will be alternating lane closures from Exit 110 (Ladysmith) to Exit 118 (Thornburg) between Sunday and Thursday nights due to bridge maintenance at the Matta River. Further north, between Exit 118 and Exit 126 (Spotsylvania), milling and paving operations will cause similar closures during the same timeframe. Additionally, the I-95 northbound off-ramp to Route 1 northbound at Exit 126 will close overnight on Sunday through Tuesday for further milling and paving.
Southbound I-95’s recently widened off-ramp at Exit 126 in Spotsylvania will see a single lane closure until early July to correct paving issues. Both directions of I-95 near Exit 130 (Route 3) may experience intermittent full stops early Thursday morning due to utility work by Dominion Energy.
In Caroline County, Route 1 will have alternating lane closures throughout the week for pavement marking. Several secondary roads in the county will undergo resurfacing with one-way traffic managed by flaggers.
Fredericksburg city streets are also undergoing significant changes. Route 1 has a right turn lane closure near Fall Hill Avenue for a widening project, while Fall Hill Avenue itself faces alternating lane closures midweek.
Essex County’s roads are set for resurfacing work Monday through Friday, with alternating lanes being closed under flagger direction. Gloucester County sees mobile lane closures on Route 3 for pavement marking and striping operations extending into Saturday.
King George County’s Route 603 will have shoulder stone application with flagged traffic control throughout the week. Similarly, Mathews County routes face mobile lane closures for pavement markings from Monday to Saturday.
In Middlesex County, expect mobile lane closures along Route 33 for pavement marking activities spanning six days each week. Spotsylvania County features numerous roadworks including night-time resurfacing on major routes such as Route 1 and various other projects affecting local roads like Harrison Road and Leavells Road.
Stafford County’s roadworks include fiber installation on Kings Highway leading to single-lane closures weekdays between Routes 607 and Blue and Gray Parkway.
Construction projects continue across several counties within the district: Gloucester’s intersection safety improvements at Route 17/Woods Cross Road aim for December completion; Lancaster’s Camps Prong Bridge is under maintenance; Mathews’ bridge over North End Branch undergoes rehabilitation; Northumberland/Westmoreland’s Gardy’s Mill Road remains closed following a dam breach incident; multiple projects in Spotsylvania target late summer completions next year or beyond.
