The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has released its weekly traffic alert for the Fredericksburg District, covering the period from July 13 to July 19, 2025. This update provides detailed information on roadworks and construction projects affecting various counties in the district.
On Interstate 95 Northbound, there will be alternating lane closures at mile marker 117 due to bridge maintenance at the Matta River. Additionally, between Exit 118 (Thornburg) and Exit 126 (Spotsylvania), milling and paving operations will cause lane closures.
In Caroline County, Route 2 will experience milling and paving activities from Route 207 business to the Spotsylvania line. A flagging crew will manage one-way traffic along several secondary roads undergoing resurfacing.
Essex County’s Route 612 (Bestland Road) will also undergo resurfacing with a flagging crew directing traffic. In King and Queen County and King William County, Route 360 will have alternating lane closures for bridge repairs.
King George County’s Route 602 (Chapel Green Road) is scheduled for mobile pavement marking work, while Gloucester County’s Route 17 Northbound (Main Street) will see alternating lane closures for bridge repairs.
In Lancaster and Middlesex Counties, work continues on the Robert O. Norris, Jr., Bridge over the Rappahannock River as part of a structural steel repair project. Middlesex County also sees mobile pavement marking on Route 33.
Northumberland County’s Route 360 is undergoing milling and paving with flaggers directing traffic. Spotsylvania County features multiple roadworks including milling, paving, fiber installation under permit, and installation of a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon at various locations.
Stafford County’s roadworks include single lane closures on several routes for fiber installation under permit and waterline installation. Westmoreland County crews are applying pavement markings with mobile operations in place.
Additional projects across the Fredericksburg District include bridge replacements in Caroline and Essex Counties, intersection improvements in Gloucester County, bridge rehabilitation in Mathews County, and widening projects in Spotsylvania County.
