Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg District will experience various lane closures from July 20 to July 26, 2025. These closures are due to ongoing bridge inspections and maintenance work. On I-95 Northbound and Southbound, single and double lane closures will occur between Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton) and Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) during night hours from Monday to Friday.
In Caroline County, Route 17 Northbound will have a single lane closure for guardrail installation from Monday to Friday. Similarly, Essex County’s Route 17 Southbound will see a single lane closure for guardrail work during the same period.
Bridge repairs are scheduled on several routes across King and Queen County, King William County, Gloucester County, Lancaster County, Middlesex County, and other areas within the district. The Lord Delaware Bridge on Route 33 over the Mattaponi River will have alternating lane closures from Sunday to Thursday nights.
Secondary road resurfacing is planned across multiple routes with flagging crews directing traffic through work zones. In Spotsylvania County, construction projects include widening of Route 1 near I-95 Exit 126 and reconstruction of Harrison Road between Gordon Road and Old Plank Road.
Commuters can access ridesharing information through GWRideConnect, a service provided by the George Washington Regional Commission.
“Construction is underway on a $2.4 million bicycle and pedestrian connector project,” as stated in the release. Additionally, “A major bridge rehabilitation project is underway on the Route 3/Route 14 westbound bridge over Burke Mill Stream.”
