The James Madison University softball team had four players named to the Sun Belt Conference postseason awards, according to a May 5 announcement from the league office.
This recognition highlights the strong performances of several Dukes athletes during the season and underscores their impact within the conference.
Kendra Lewis led the group by earning First Team All-Conference honors. Lewis posted a .403 batting average, with 48 hits, 30 runs scored, 13 doubles, and 10 home runs while driving in 36 runs. In conference play, she hit .382 with 26 hits and 22 RBI while starting in all 48 games for James Madison. The release said Lewis “led the Sun Belt in numerous categories, with being number one in batting average and top five in slugging percentage and on-base percentage.”
Payton List also received First Team recognition as a two-way contributor. List finished with a .306 overall batting average along with 38 hits, 11 home runs, and drove in 40 runs. She pitched for more than one hundred innings during the season, earning nine wins and striking out ninety-eight batters. The statement noted that “in conference action, she hit .302 with twenty-one RBI and continued to serve as a key arm for JMU’s pitching staff.”
Cali Legzdin was named to the Second Team after hitting .338 overall with forty-four hits, ten home runs, thirty-two RBI and posting a .976 fielding percentage. In conference play she improved her numbers further by hitting .400.
Kylee Gleason earned Honorable Mention recognition after recording a .339 overall batting average with fifty-seven hits and twenty-two RBI along with contributing defensively at a high level.
James Madison is scheduled to begin postseason play against Texas State on Thursday May 14 in Lafayette, Louisiana during the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
