Four players from the Virginia men’s lacrosse team have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) team, with attackman Brendan Millon earning the title of ACC Freshman of the Year, according to an April 28 announcement by the conference office. The selections were made by a vote among the league’s five head coaches and include Brendan Millon, his brother McCabe Millon, Ryan Colsey, and John Schroter.

Brendan Millon’s recognition marks him as Virginia’s first freshman-of-the-year since goaltender Matthew Nunes in 2022 and its first attackman honored in this way since Michael Kraus in 2017. Through 14 games this season, he has scored 30 goals and recorded 37 assists. He leads all ACC players in points per game and is also at the top among Division I freshmen for both assists and points per game. In a notable performance against Dartmouth on March 23, he registered four goals and six assists for a total of ten points—the highest single-game total by a Division I freshman this year.

Ryan Colsey ranks fifth in the ACC for goals scored with 31 so far this season and maintains an active streak of scoring at least one goal in each of his last 27 games. He has achieved five hat tricks during this campaign, including one that helped secure a win over Duke on April 4—the Cavaliers’ first regular-season victory against Duke since 2004.

McCabe Millon currently leads all ACC players with an average of just over three assists per game and is third in points per game within the conference. His nine-point effort during Virginia’s season opener against Colgate was one highlight among several strong performances that contributed to his nomination for college lacrosse’s Tewaaraton Award.

Defensively, John Schroter earned All-ACC honors for a second consecutive year. He leads conference defenders with an average of nearly two caused turnovers per contest while anchoring a unit ranked fourth nationally for ground balls collected per game.

Looking ahead, fourth-seeded Virginia (8-6) will face top-seeded Notre Dame (10-1) on Friday, May 1 in Charlotte as part of the semifinals at the Allstate ACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship. The Cavaliers are aiming to secure their twentieth ACC championship title.
