FOIA Request to Virginia Polytechnic Institute And State University regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.

Old Dominion News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Virginia Polytechnic Institute And State University seeking detailed records of employee compensation for Fiscal Year 2024. The request was made under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, §2.2-3704 et seq., and aims to obtain this information in an electronic format.

The requested records include comprehensive data on all individuals employed by the university during the specified fiscal year. The data fields sought in the request encompass a wide range of information such as fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth, date of birth, employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount and type, and employment type (full-time or part-time). Old Dominion News acknowledges that not all fields may be present in every record but requests that all responsive records be produced regardless.

The request emphasizes the importance of transparency and accountability in public institutions and highlights the role of media in disseminating information to the public. As such, Old Dominion News is requesting a fee waiver for accessing these public records due to its role as a media organization.

Additionally, it is noted that Old Dominion News is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting transparency by assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through FOIA requests.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
