FOIA Request to Old Dominion University regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.

Old Dominion News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Old Dominion University seeking detailed records of employee compensation for the fiscal year 2024. The request was made under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, §2.2-3704 et seq., and it emphasizes the preference for receiving this information in an electronic format.

The request specifically asks for records that include data fields such as Fiscal Year, Employee Name, Gender, Age or Year of Birth, Date of Birth, Employer Name, Title or Position, Department, Hire Date, Compensation Amount (including base pay and any additional pay), Compensation Type (e.g., salary, hourly, stipend, bonus), and Employment Type (full-time or part-time). It is acknowledged that not all fields may be present in every record; however, Old Dominion News requests the production of all responsive records regardless.

Additionally, if any portion of a record is deemed exempt from disclosure under FOIA regulations, Old Dominion News requests that non-exempt portions be released in redacted form rather than withheld entirely. The news organization also seeks a fee waiver due to its role in gathering and reporting news to the public.

The requester is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. More information about this coalition can be found at https://stopsecrecy.org/about/.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
