FOIA Request to Loudoun County Circuit Court Regarding Property Sales Records/Transactions on May 2, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, Old Dominion News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Loudoun County Circuit Court. The request seeks access to detailed records of property sales transactions within the county. Specifically, we are requesting a list of all properties and their most recent sale, along with available metadata related to these sales. This includes the recorded instrument ID, transaction date, transaction amount, transaction type, buyer name, and seller name.

Access to public records is crucial for us as media professionals in fulfilling our responsibility to hold public institutions accountable and ensure transparency for the public. We have requested this information under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, ยง2.2-3704 et seq., and have asked for it in electronic format where possible.

Additionally, we have requested a fee waiver due to our role in disseminating information as members of the media. Our organization is also affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies using Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.

We look forward to receiving these records and continuing our mission to inform the American electorate by pulling back the curtain on government actions.
