FOIA Request to Henrico County Circuit Court Regarding Property Sales Records/Transactions on May 2, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, Old Dominion News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Henrico County Circuit Court. The request seeks access to detailed records of property sales transactions within the county.

Specifically, we have requested a list of all properties and their most recent sale, along with all available metadata related to these sales. This includes information such as the Recorded Instrument ID, Transaction Date, Transaction Amount, Transaction Type, Buyer Name, and Seller Name. Our goal is to ensure transparency and accountability in public institutions by making this information accessible to the public.

We believe that access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities as members of the media. By holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency, we aim to inform the American electorate effectively. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

This request is made in collaboration with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating state and federal governmental agencies. Through leveraging Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws, we strive to pull back the curtain on government actions.
