FOIA Request to Fairfax County Clerk Regarding Property Sales Records/Transactions on May 2, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, Old Dominion News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Fairfax County Clerk. We are seeking access to records detailing property sales transactions within the county. The requested information includes a list of all properties and their most recent sale, along with available metadata related to these sales. Specifically, we have asked for details such as Recorded Instrument ID, Transaction Date, Transaction Amount, Transaction Type, Buyer Name, and Seller Name.

Our role in gathering and reporting news is essential for holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. Access to these public records will aid us in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our status as a media organization dedicated to disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act.

Additionally, we are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that assists media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. This collaboration aims to pull back the curtain on government actions and help inform the American electorate.

We look forward to receiving the requested information promptly and will continue our efforts to provide insightful coverage on matters of public interest.
