FOIA Request to Chesterfield County Circuit Court Regarding Property Sales Records/Transactions on May 2, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, Old Dominion News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Chesterfield County Circuit Court. The request seeks access to records detailing property sales transactions within the county. Specifically, we have requested a list of all properties and their most recent sale, along with all available metadata related to these sales. This includes details such as the Recorded Instrument ID, Transaction Date, Transaction Amount, Transaction Type, Buyer Name, and Seller Name.

Access to these public records is crucial for us as members of the media. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities by holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public. In line with this mission, we have also requested a fee waiver due to our role in disseminating information.

This request is made in collaboration with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. More information about this coalition can be found at [https://stopsecrecy.org/about/](https://stopsecrecy.org/about/).

We look forward to receiving the requested information and continuing our efforts to inform the American electorate about government actions.
