VCU Women’s Tennis had five student-athletes receive Atlantic 10 Conference honors, according to a May 11 announcement from the league. Head coach Rifa Kahfiani was also named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.
The recognition highlights individual and team achievements during a season in which VCU secured back-to-back conference championships and another NCAA Tournament appearance. The awards underscore both athletic and academic accomplishments by members of the women’s tennis program.
Sofia Thorne played at Court 1 throughout the season for the Rams, posting a 13-8 singles record and a 15-6 doubles mark. The honor adds to an already strong resume for Thorne, who was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week twice this season, earned a spot on the 2026 Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference Team, and was a 2024-25 Atlantic 10 First Team selection. She was also named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week twice last season, while earning ITA Scholar-Athlete and Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognition.
Isabel Andrade finished the season with an overall singles record of 11-5 and went nine wins to five losses in doubles play. Andrade received first-team honors after being selected as Atlantic 10 Player of the Week this year, making multiple preseason all-conference teams over her career, as well as previously earning both first-team and second-team all-conference selections. Andrade held a lead against No.52 Aspen Schuman of Duke in an NCAA Tournament match before it went unfinished.
Head coach Rifa Kahfiani said she earned Coach of the Year honors “for leading VCU to back-to-back championship titles in her first two years.” Under Kahfiani’s leadership this season, “the Rams collected six all-conference honors and seven Atlantic 10 Player of the Week awards.”
