VCU Men’s Tennis had five student-athletes named to the Atlantic 10 Conference honors, the league announced on May 11. Alfred Almasi, Erwann Bouchet, and Mats Bredschneijder were selected for the All-Atlantic 10 First Team, while Gevorg Mnatsakanyan and Nicolo Consonni earned spots on the Second Team. Bouchet was also recognized with a place on the All-Academic Team.
These honors highlight the achievements of VCU’s athletes during a competitive season. Recognition by the Atlantic 10 Conference underscores both athletic performance and academic excellence among team members.
Alfred Almasi secured his second consecutive appearance on the First Team, adding to previous accolades such as Preseason All-Conference recognition and ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. After returning from injury mid-season, Almasi finished with a singles record of 6-5 and doubles record of 5-4. He remained undefeated in singles during the Atlantic 10 Championship.
Erwann Bouchet made his first appearance on the First Team after being named to the Second Team last season. In addition to earning Player of the Week earlier in this campaign, Bouchet posted a combined singles and doubles record of 9-7 each while primarily competing on Courts 1 and 2. His season included seven wins out of his final ten singles matches.
Mats Bredschneijder received First Team honors in his debut season at VCU, adding to prior awards such as SEC Freshman of the Week. He completed his season with a singles record of 5-6 and went unbeaten in singles during championship play.
Nicolo Consonni repeated as an Atlantic 10 Second Team honoree after contributing near the top of VCU’s lineup throughout this year. He won four out of his last five singles matches and achieved notable victories in conference play.
Gevorg Mnatsakanyan also earned Second Team recognition for a second straight year following strong performances near the top courts for VCU, finishing with records of 10-8 in singles and 10-7 in doubles competition.
